july2016imgdThe Abuja Writers’ Forum (AWF) was established to encourage creative writing potentials within Nigeria and Africa. Our main objective is to promote the development of Nigerian Literature in English and the indigenous languages. We also aim to facilitate the growth of the country’s book industry in all its ramifications and provide a favourable environment for the development of a vibrant reading culture.

We are already undertaking some initiatives in this regard through our weekly reading and critique sessions, with people’s reading habits consistently improving. Our monthly Guest Writer Session at the Pen and Pages Bookshop has been awesome, featuring writers from all over the country as well as foreign writers and authors. It has also become popular with publishers, thus meeting our objective of promoting Nigerian and African literature and it is regularly publicised in both print and electronic media. A monthly creative writing workshop has also been incorporated.
